Well, the much awaited satellite mission was scheduled today at 9:12 am from Sriharikota. ISRO’s this mission is the longest ever and it had a great start at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C35) that took along 8 satellites has made its way and the weather satellite SCATSAT-1 has been successfully placed it its orbit. It would help forecast weather, track and detect cyclones. The rocket is expected to move to another orbit to place the remaining satellites. This mission is special, since a single rocket is made to enter two orbits and, also because it carries two student satellites – Pratham from IIT-Bombay and Pisat from PES university, Bangalore. It’s quite a big challenge for the ISRO to accomplish this mission safely.
